I have said that NaNoWriMo is addictive :) But I don't drink much more coffee during November than the rest of the year. And I do write year-round, but not quite as intensely.

I'm not a 3K words an hour person like Sara. It takes me about an hour to write 1000 words, but the story is coming along pretty well, and that's honestly what is important to me. I think I may have set too high a goal this year as 12 hours of writing a day is making my vertigo act up. So after I hit 50,000 today I didn't look at my story for 6 hours. Which is 5 hours longer than I've stayed away with it prior to this afternoon (while awake.)

1) I wish I could honestly answer this question in regards to the novel, but all I know is it's based in Chicago. I've got 2 FMC's - Abby and Katie - and so far .. they've just argued amongst themselves. [I have no idea on what this story is about... characters please talk to me...]

2) Hopefully with an ending, and more information that my characters aren't sharing with me.

3) An outline, an idea, and don't be afraid to write until your hands are sore and your eyes hurt. Additionally, if you can figure out how to disable the backspace or delete keys off your keyboard also helps. Don't remove anything that you type. You can always edit it out in December.

The Teller

1. When The Cooperative scouted the planet, they didn't realize the psionic effect of the minerals on the planet would not only affect the terraforming plans, but the planners themselves. When one of the lead terraforming engineers finds that he can play with time using the elements of the planet, a bubble is created that could expand to affect even those beyond the planet. The solution must be played out over ten thousand years. Even with careful planning many will give their lives but in doing so will create a world and save many worlds beyond.

2. Prequel to Castaway Prophecies. It describes how the world's creation will also spell its doom without outside assistance. It ends with the death of the creators as they prepare their nascent peoples for the eventual arrival of those prophesied and the danger that awaits the world and those who would save it.

3. Write when you have time, squeeze it into every available moment. Share your goal with others so they keep asking how its going and you have to work on it so you can say you are working on it. Clear space at the end of the month to catch up if you lag behind. Create a writing holiday for yourself. Have fun! This is play!

The novel I am on is actually the second in a trilogy. The story picks off where "Beginning of the End, Book 1 in The 12th Dimension, leaves off. Check out the book on Amazon after you finish writing all your novels and winning here in November!

The book centers around Zedra, an emotionless boy who grew up believing "you must be more brutal than your enemies if want to survive", and who is more than capable in acting out that mantra; Felan, a brilliant young genius who's Grandfather was framed for treason and put to death leaving her an orphan and filled with a burning desire for revenge; Megan, the once leader of an orphanage of over 20,000 kids who escaped and is now on the run, living with homeless people and even an assassin all in an effort to find Zedra, the boy she fell madly in love with; and Dr. Flint, the head of medical technology for the Empire who is faced with a horrifying truth. The technology developed which allows man to manipulate common devices with his thoughts alone, and is on the verge of even altering the laws of physics is causing illness to spread throughout all humans in the Empire. The disease is unlike any known and is spreading exponentially and he must find a cure without alerting the public to the horror that could befall them all. With scientists in all fields helping he must complete this cure in two years before the disease and certain mass hysteria which would come with it wiped out 500 billion lives. Follow Zedra and Megan and Felan and Dr. Flint as they all strive to achieve their goals as the Empire begins to collapse all around them.

2. Felan is the greatest theoretical physicist left in the Empire after her Grandfather was murdered and she discovers the reason for the illness. But Dr. Flint has lost hope as the insanity and madness overwhelm his team and nearly every colony and planet within the Empire far more quickly than he planned. People must abandon technology, sending their lifestyle back centuries while having to fight off the sick and insane even as they too lose their minds. Felan must perform the most radical manipulations ever done in order to save them all. For the illness is nothing simple, but in fact the result of the very fabric of the universe becoming distorted and slowly collapsing. But I won't tell you why its collapsing or even what she has to do. After all there will be a third book and I can't spoil all the fun ;)

3. The biggest tip is to never, NEVER, no matter how much your inner editor tells you to, no matter how much that sentence or piece of dialog bothers you; do not use your up arrow on the keyboard. That's right, it's that simple. Always progress. If you are moving down the page you will eventually WIN, you will finish 50,000 words and more. Put a piece of tape on the up arrow and NEVER touch it. Not until December.

Hi everyone! I'm a bit late in the game, just found out about this last week, so unfortunately I am a week behind in starting, so let's hope I can catch up!

1. Davis Vinson is the lead singer of the ban Black Oval. Always being the bad-boy type, and struggling from a background of drugs, death, and a broken family, he leans on one of his band mates to try to keep him on the right path. He stumbles upon a girl who might be just as bad as him... but in all the right ways.
2. The story ends with Davis clean of drugs, hopefully side by side with his love interest, and a much better person than he started out.
3. As I am new at this, I am really not sure what advice I can give to help. Write every day, and listen to those voices in your head. They usually have some pretty good ideas.

Not to change the subject, but I tried to NaNo mail you and was told New Mexico Kid wasn't a valid address inside this website. My question is, how do I join these write ins at libraries and other venues if I don't own a laptop? I type fairly fast but write slowly on a legal pad with a pencil. There's no way I could put out 3,000 words that way. If I used a computer in the library, how would I transfer what I've written to what I already have written? Am I out of luck? I could use the company of other writers.

I'll take a look back on this site for an answer, I guess.

Thanks.

Dawns of Destiny
1. When a daring young thief named Gavin tries to steal a top-secret new technology, he trades places with a mysterious young girl from another world and sets in motion an ages-old prophecy heralding the rise of a champion destined to save the human race. But no one, not even the promised champion herself, is prepared for what will be required of her along the way.
2. Our unnamed champion--named Elexa--will discover more about her true power and learn that it is, in fact, within her ability to control. Gavin will learn he cannot escape the path of his own destiny--that of a champion to another world.
3. Best advice. I don't really have any. Just write, then write some more. Forget about eating, sleeping, the outside world, your loved ones. At least for the month of November. :)

This is Dave another ML. Once you can come to a write in with a pad a paper and enjoy the company. You can still share in the atmosphere, just not write so much.

If you use a library computer all you need to do is email the document to yourself and you have your copy. Or you could save to a thumb drive.

You might also find a friend who might lend you a laptop.

To email from the Nano Website go to the person's profile. Search for them. There's a place that says send a NanNomail. That works for me.

Just click on Tim's name and that will take you to his page.

I just started my novel King of Exiles today (I was away in Boston from the 1st to the 6th and had no computer at the time).

1. In an alternate 18th century North America a shy son of a local aristocrat finds himself taken as a hostage by the Roman Imperial government to guarantee the loyalty of his upwardly mobile father. Forced to live in a city of exiles in the heart of a depopulated and backward region of Greece, he slowly comes to accept his lot and the loss of his family and home.
2. In the end he becomes King of Exiles, an annual post held by senior members of the community, and fakes his own death to escape into the world and perhaps to return.
3. This is my first NaNo and I wish I had begun on time instead of a little late like this. I intend to press onward and see this through to the end of the month, and hopefully beyond.

If you click on someone's user name (like NewMexicoKid) you should see an option to send email.

The computers in the libraries aren't in the rooms where we have write-ins. Can you borrow a laptop from someone for a write-in?
Files can be transferred via USB drives or by having an account on Dropbox, or all sorts of ways.
But if you borrow a laptop, make sure you know how to get your files onto it or off of it or you won't get much done at the write-in. A few people do write long-hand at write-ins. You don't have to do the whole 3000 there--you could write 1000 words at the library and the rest by your computer.

Good luck.

Captain John Happish and his crew are the second group of humans to attempt to solar sail around the sun and back to Mecho Earth. What mysteries will they uncover? Will they meet new intelligent species? Will they find clues to the disappearance of the first group attempting the feat some 300 years previous? Most on board don't think they will or don't want to return to the dying planet Earth, which is only kept alive by the great atomic furnaces and stolen alien technology.

1. Alex is trying to piece together what happened over the past month -- she was in a car accident and woke up in the hospital with amnesia. The most difficult detail to get used to is her boyfriend, but he is so charming and sweet that their relationship quickly takes off. Things get complicated when Alex discovers a note that she had apparently written herself -- a phone number with a name "Taylor", and a little heart in blue ink.

2. Not quite sure yet, but it won't be pretty.

3. Take advantage of these long, cold evenings. Snuggle up with your laptop and a cup of coffee, maybe a blanket. That's all you want to do in this weather anyways.

My name is Amy. I'm writing Hidden. So far I am behind with Nano but plan on putting in some 4000 word days to catch up. I love Nov and Nano. It's a great way to get motivated and excited about writing. As for the ending... we will just have to wait and see. Jade is . . . changing.

I'm a total newbie to NaNoWriMo, but having fun (although I have some serious catching up to do...). My novel, Pause is a sci-fi romance about a young couple on the rocks, and what happens when the rest of the world falls asleep? Not sure yet how it ends...sure I will find out soon! My advice is the reason I am posting now--tell someone you are writing a novel, so that you have to finish it!

Pretty sure I'm not going to make it to 50,000 this year but that's ok. I'm just adding to my first NaNoWriMo book written two years ago. I decided not to tackle a new book as I'm finally getting paid to write for an online website and most of my writing time is going to that. Good luck to all the newbies! NaNoWriMo was such a life-changing experience for me. I hope it is for you too!!!

1. A bunch of people start searching the planet for magical orbs that control reality adn the universe, and trying to stop the dangerous people who get their hands on them.

2. I have no idea yet.

3. Advice? This is my first Nano so I dont know. From what I would say, write everyday. Even if its not the full word count. It really helps with writers block. Just writing to get the word count, even if i dont know where it's going. The next day I have a new spot to work off of, and seem to get inspired in ways to move the story forward.
