For my novel Space-Head

1. In the somewhat near future, a wet-match kind of guy goes is taken out by his friends for a blow-out bachelor party before getting married. In the process, they break all sorts of laws, expose a coverup, and the guy discovers what he's passionate about.
2. The novel ends with Dick, the protag, finally taking a stand against the people who have been making all his decisions.
3. Same advice I give everybody: Write first, without censor. Edit later.

1. A young woman is renovating her book store when she falls for the man doing construction on her store. She also falls for an author that she is bringing in for a signing. Unsure who to chose she dates them both as her book store progresses.

2. I'm not 100% sure how it will end but I do see it continuing to a second book.

3. I'm a first timer so I don't really have much advice.

1. Recently divorced, Tamsyn decides she needs to get away for awhile, to figure out what's next. She rents a cottage on the Scottish coast, planning to play tourist as well as focus on some creative endeavors. Until he shows up on her doorstep and throws a giant spanner into her plans. (in the past I've done paranormal/fantasy/scifi -- I've decided to completely change things up by doing romance this year)

2. Not entirely sure how it will end -- vacillating between "happily for now" and "happily ever after".

3. a. The one year I actually won was the year I got most of it planned and plotted out before even beginning to write. Things did change during the course of the actual writing, but starting it out with some guidelines was very beneficial to me.
b. Attend write-ins if at all possible -- it gets you away from home distractions and puts you in an environment where everyone is focusing on the same activity. (This year I'm hoping will be a little easier as I will only have 2 distractors at home for most of the month (2 kids) as hub has moved to Georgia for work and will only be here Thanksgiving week.)

1. A grieving man is called by God to bring healing to people's lives. Travels the country learning what healing means to himself and others. He is used in people's lives while others attempt to use his new power.

2. Back home.

3. Like everyone else - try and attend write-ins but if you can't do them by yourself. I had a lot of trouble making write-ins last year with scheduling so I would try to squeeze in two sessions or an extra long session at home on weekends to try and get a word count boost similar to a write-in. If you have a busy household take advantage of those rare times when you are home alone to write even though it can be very tempting to do something else (or nothing).

Hi! Tried before but it didn't post so sorry if I duplicate! Excited that Nov 1 is almost here. Life has been a great adventure as of late, and I look forward to stealing time to get my NaNo going again! I'm still debating on specifics of my writing for this year, but it will be about a bit of an adventure. My advice - have fun! This is a celebrated escape from reality, enjoy it! Make time to write and you'll get there. Lastly, DO NOT EDIT! Hope to see you all at a write-in!

1. A team of former sidekicks/superheroes get back together to fight something. I still have a few more hours to figure out the rest.
2. No clue. Probably somebody dies.
3. Don't wait until the last minute to outline your story. :P Also, go to write-ins, write every day, and make sure your family/friends know you are trying to write a novel in a month so they know you don't have as much time to hang out as you usually do.

A Dreary Whimsy

1) A teenage ghost (Iker) reminisces about his friendship with a quirky young artist, who is sent to live with her dysfunctional family, who she's never meet before.

2) My main character goes through trial and tribulations, but in the end, the outcome is positive, but not a happily ever after ending. Her best friend dies trying to protect her.

3) Keep writing and listen to the voices inside your head - it's usually the dialogue that the character's want you to write down.

1. A deadly miasma covers much of the land, forcing mankind to the skies. Of course, that doesn't stop them from warring. The story is about three people from three different backgrounds as their lives cross paths in a war-torn, quasi-post-apocalyptic, steampunk-inspired setting.

2. I don't want to spoil the story, so I'll just say that Rebecca Falconwing has to make a life-altering decision between staying loyal to her country and being with the man she loves.

3. What helps me is to write the scene that I'm motivated to tell, which is not always the part that comes next in the novel. You can fill in the gaps later, whether after NaNo or when you hit a writer's block.

1. A witch-in-training from Scotland makes a research trip to London and finds that a power-hungry wizard has been elected Prime Minister.

2. I'd like my novel to end with my main character having learned that she can, indeed, perform practical magic and that there is far more to the magical world than just her Scottish village.

3. GO TO WRITE-INS. Seriously. I know it can be hard to motivate yourself to drive to the library on a Sunday afternoon, but it helps infinitely with word counts. I once made 5000 words in one day thanks to write-ins. While that's not much by Katherine's standards (teehee), it was AWESOME.

1. What to do, what to do...the story of Alexei, Russian spy, and Andrew, his American counterpart, who also happen to be tremendous musicians using their respective bands as cover for their activities, or...
the next installment of my series about Raelyn, a young woman who has had her brain networked to a powerful computer and is then kidnapped by pirates who want to sell the computer to the highest bidder?
2. Alexei and Andrew are going to become great friends if they don't kill each other first. Jury is still out on how Raelyn and Carrick are going to fare together.
3. Best advice I can give? Don't do anything that I would.

Walk the Cat Back
- A orphaned boy moves to a small New England town to live with his relatives, but finds it hard to fit in with his new family or his school. He finally finds a friend in a mysterious gray cat with an uncanny knack of showing up when you least expect him.

-The boy realizes the cat is more than what he seems: a boy eager to get back to his proper body. Together, they discover that the boy wasn't just turned into a cat, but had traded places with an important man in town who has gone to great lengths to hide his past in order to forge his future.

-Have fun. Keep having fun. Why else do it if it isn't fun. And also, think of how good it's going to feel on December 1st, when you have 50,000 words and a whole novel under your belt.

1. Fitz and Keelan are brothers - though due to the Atlantic ocean and their mutually absent father, both were blissfully oblivious of this fact. Until, however, the summer after their senior year of high school, when Fitz and his purely platonic, no feelings attached, only-going-to Ireland-because-she-was-drunk-and-crying friend Autumn show up on Keelan's doorstep and confront him with a whole mess of things he'd never had before: friends, family, and hope.

2. I'm not really sure how it will end, but most of my stories have sad endings... I want to steer away from that this year, and hopefully - somehow - Keelan and Autumn will end up together by some impossible feat.

3. Write - everyday. Even if you're tried, or uninspired, or if you feel like there are so many other things to do. When you don't have time to write, be constantly thinking about what you're going to write about the next time you get your fingers on a keyboard or a pen or whatever it might be. Immerse yourself and don't be afraid to get a little lost in your own story.

The Lilith Reset
Ignored by mainstream science as an insignificant risk, the Sonic Comet subjects Earth to 30 days of vibrations deadly to the brain cells of primates. Unless you are under ground or underwater for the entire time your brain is microwaved from the slightest exposure.
Predicted 25 years before its arrival by a young graduate student from a second tier college in the Midwest, the Sonic Comet hypothesis is dismissed by all except a Department of Defense planning group. They use their meager funding to develop a plan to insure the survival of the American experiment by getting Breeding Age Females on-board US Navy submarines and in US Air Force Missle Silos under the guise of equal rights. They succeed with only a few years to spare. Right Wing politicians rail against the move in public but are supportive in private because they fear a renewed superpower conflict with China. The Re-population Plan is imbedded deep within post-nuke protocols, to be revealed only after the Extinction Level Event occurs via a "dead man" switch at the Pentagon.

Less than 1/4 of 1% of the world population survives the comet's passage. Eighteen US Navy submarines and eight US Air Force silos find themselves alone on the Continent. Or are they? Less than 160 American women must decide if and how they can re-populate the nation.

All my books have happy endings; I expect this one will close on the 100th Anniversary of Death Day

The best advice I can give is to keep writing. If you write yourself into a corner switch viewpoints for a chapter until you figure a way out or over the corner.

Hi, my name is Christine, though I am writing under the username: callalily05 . This will be my fourth NaNo and hopefully my fourth win. Though this year might be more of a struggle because I am in final edit phases of another book. So I will be doing both for the first few days of the month. My goal is to put the first book to bed while writing new words on the second. It's a tough order, but woe is the writer's life and I'm looking forward to the challenge. :) I live on the southwest side of Chicago, but love being a part of this fantastic Naperville group. I can't wait to start on my new novel. November is one of my favorite months and look forward to NaNoing all year long. There was no way I could miss it.

1) Two members of a paranormal investigation team have conflicts, probably fall in love at some point, discover an actual mystery and have their respective skepticism and strong beliefs challenged.
2) How will it end? I think there's a fair chance not all the members of the team survive this month.
3) Consider the daily 1667 a minimum goal and sneak in extra words the way you sneak in extra dollars to your savings account so it builds up faster than you even realize!
