Hi, I'm Kira. This is my second Nano. Would like to prove to myself that the first go round wasn't just beginner's luck. I was planning to write short stories, but then one of the ideas kept blossoming into something more complex, so I've decided to write a novel: it centers around a book club who discovers that the fantasy world at the heart of a best-selling novel actually appeared before in an unpublished manuscript some forty years earlier. One of the club members becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery behind the manuscript (and of course, gets more than she bargained for!) This is a mainstream piece.
Hi! I'm Michele from Plainfield. This is my first NaNo, and I'm excited! Two years ago I rekindled my childhood interestin writing by posting the first of several short stories on a fan fiction website, mainly focusing on the genres of romance and drama. (My stories utilize the characters in the Lego Ninjago cartoon series!) I remain involved in this endeavor, but for NaNo I will write a romance novel using two original characters. I'm planning to attend at least one of the Plainfield Library Write-Ins, so I hope to meet some of you there!
Hi! Im Nicole, and this is my first real Nanowrimo. I will be taking this opportunity to hash out ideas for a fantasy/adventure novel Ive been working on. Looking forward to it!
Hello there! I'm Dawn, and this is my second NaNoWriMo. Along with Sam McAdams, we will be hosting a write-in at Helen Plum Library on November 1st and 15th. I will be ordering pizza, along with providing snacks, desert, and drinks. I hope to see you there! Best wishes in your writing endeavors!!
Hi! I'm Eva. I'm back after a 9-year absence. I first attempted NaNo in 2002, and then I came back and won in 04, 06, and 08. I took an extended break from creative writing and return to it last year, and now I'm back to try my hand at NaNo again.
I am doing Nano Rebels this year, and my plan is to use the community and energy to develop some short stories. I hope to make it to a write-in or two and knock out rough drafts on a couple of stories that have been in the back of my mind for a long time.
Did not write one sentence last year. Got a new novel for this year and am determined to finish, "Barbers Named Sam." Don't know how many write in's I'll get to attend. Good luck everyone.!
I'm semi-returning. Haven't done a NaNo in earnest since 2014, and won'treally be doing it this year. Planning on coming to write-ins and getting work done, but my wordcount will be split between graduate school applications, editing said 2014 novel, and misc other stories I'm writing for classes. Still hoping to hit a 50k word total, and looking forward to hanging out with everyone at write-ins!
Hi, I'm Sharon. I have skirted around the edges of Nanowrimo for many years, joined one year, but ended up not writing. Another year I used the nanowrimo concept as a project for a writing workshop intensive class in university. I wrote about 50 000 words during one January for that class, so I know I can do this. Quality of writing yet to be determined...isn't there another month devoted to editing? I will need it! I am working on a fantasy/allegory of faith and journeying through a strange land, in the spirit of Dante or Pilgrims Progress.

Hi! By..."near aurora"??? I'm over on the west side by west aurora high...If i feel up to it while my mom is visiting (and thus, can be my free babysitter for the infant)...i MIGHT host a write-in somewhere...but it depends on if i mentally feel up to the task...given that when ever my mom visits...it's one giant ball of stress! LOL!
and btw...fellow crafter :D i am curious what you craft? (or sneak over to the crafting thread!)
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
What's up y'all! This is my first NaNo! I'm pretty pumped! If any weathered NaNo writers have any tips or advice for a green novice like me, that would be awesome!
Hi - I'm Rachel, and I'm a blogger in Lombard -- so I write all day, but in a totally different way. I've published nonfiction in the past, but am new both to fiction writing and NaNoWriMo (although I've thought about doing both for years). I'm jumping in with a cozy mystery idea I've been kicking around for a while... and can't decide yet if I'm more excited or intimidated about this project.
I'm Chris and this is 4th (5th?) NaNo, and I'm looking forward to it. I just finished my first completed novel draft a few weeks ago and it's set to go out for Beta readers in the next couple of weeks so it feels great to start working on a new project. Hoping to get to my first write-in this year to meet some of the other people who do this crazy thing.
Here's wishing everyone good luck and happy writing!
Hello! I'm Lisa, aka TogetherAgain, and this is my 7th NaNoWriMo.
I didn't go to any write-ins last year. I missed them. A lot. And so did my word count. But, I live up in Gurnee, so write-ins are a bit of a trek, and I'm also working on my master's degree in elementary education. That said... I want to get back to write-ins this year!
Also, I write by hand. And then at the end of the day, I type up everything I've written. Believe me, I can tell you a few things about writer's cramp. Fortunately, I still live with my parents, and my mom is a massage therapist.

Glad to have you back again, Lisa. Hope to see you at one of the write-ins (you should come to the All Day Write-In on the 18th). And you should consider joining the slack channel(where Tanya, Jenny and I are currently writing).
I was enticed by your icon! I Love Doctor Who. Good luck with your novel, especially with a 8 month old. Mine is 12 months and definitely going to be a challenge with writing.
Your novel sounds very interesting! Happy writing.

This is my 11th Nano, but hopefully it's a win this year. I'm working on an urban fantasyshort story series about the Greek Furies, starting with the second story in the series.
I am a mom of a precocious 12 month old plus I work as a full time web designer, so doing NaNoWriMo will be a challenge. I'm hoping to join in on the writing workshops as I am fairly new to the DuPage area. I'll probably pop into the Carol Stream Library write in since it's near my house.
Good luck to everyone on their novels and happy writing!

Good luck! <3 I too am doing nano with an infant. a 9mo old infant who loves to grind her teeth...which makes writing difficult..(like nails on a chalkboard, it is!)...don't worry though, if you need more time, just steal a tardis and fly away to somewhere quiet. Just not the library...
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
Hello, I'm Calvin, a product design engineer by day, avid reader and writer by night. I actually just heard about NaNo on Sunday from a friend in Chicago who really enjoys writing, so this will be my first year getting involved in this community and trying out this challenge!
I'll be working on a fantasy memoir set in the world loosely established in the Taiwanese light novel series and prequels,The Legend of Sun Knight (), andFemale Warrior (). It will be a standalone work though, so knowledge of those two series is unnecessary; though my hope is that the finished work would inspire people who have not done so, to want to read those two series, as they have been completely translated and made available to read online in English:https://www.princerevolution.org/sunknight-main/sunknight-chapterlist/
This is my fourth nanowrimo year. I almost did not join this year but an overwhelming desire to write the memoir. It demands to be put on the computer. I started Nov 7. I got this to 50,000 by Nov 30. I found that using a little sketch book of drawing the places of my scene before I write. Then I use my phone to set timer to 45 minutes, fingers on keyboard with sketch. The 45 minutes are gone in no time. I plan to do this 45 minutes four times a day. Three hours. That does not include the story boarding sketches.
Hello, I'm Tracy. This is the first NaNoWriMo and I wasn't sure I could finish. However, it's been on my mind so much this November that I might as well jump in! It's great to see how dedicated the ML's are in our area, instills a great vote of confidence. Keep it up!
My book is about two characters at a coffee shop, who hardly ever directly intact but have many friends in common.
Hi! I'm Amy Laurel. This is my second year of doing NaNo. I've started out slow this year because of illness, but I hope to catch up, especially at the library crawls. I'm the poster girl for overcoming your past, even if it's traumatic. I write YA fiction. My project for this year is a comedy The Anomalous Adventures of James and Max. Looking forward to meeting you all!
