Hey everybody. This is Sam Brown aka Basil Cliffside. Don't forget! The annual All Day Write-In is this Saturday, the 12th! Kaden (silverwolf42) and I were holding off posting this because we are still working on making it a true all-day event.
The maineventwill be held at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street, Meeting Room B, from 8am-3pm. After 3pm (when the municipal center closes) we are planning on moving to a coffee shop or cafe for a couple hours. Stay tuned.
What we could use your help on is the location of our final destination for dinner! Neither of us are Naperville natives, so if anyone has any suggestions, let us know.
We hope to see everybody on Saturday! Come and go as you please. There will be word wars, prizes, special "event cards" for challenges and inspiration, and more.
All are welcome to bring their own lunch or a dish to share (if you want).
If you plan on following us after 3pm to the cafe and/or dinner, PLEASE RESPOND in the comments so we can tell each location about how many to expect.
I'll be there for the all day event...but i bought tickets to Marissa Meyer's book signing over in western springs from 2-4!!! so...i'd be packing up by 2:30 to be out by 3 so...no dinner for me....but here is what i can bring:
-tons of tea/lose leaf tea bags/etc (if someone will provide an electric water kettle) -some nerdy mugs to share -blankets for another blanket fort (if there is enough interest in me bringing my blankets again) -maybe a few pillows -several binders FULL of various references/writing references/vocabulary words/advice/etc. (seriously, when blogs i follow post good advice or helpful tips/etc....i print it out)
as far as food to bring...while warm slow cooker brown cinnamon sugar oatmeal sounds good...do i REALLY want to carry a slow cooker? We shall see...i just pray that this year i don't get sick like last year....i refuse to leave the all day write in early...AND have to miss a book signing...
So, I'll be in tow...along with my friend Susan (Coffee_Mate...WHO BY THE WAY STILL NEEDS TO GET ON THESE FORUMS!!!!!) and i will try to get us there a few minutes early...just so i can help set up if need be...and i if people want a blanket fort...i can take time to set it up
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I am going to try and make it, and hope to participate in the after-events as well. See you all there! For dinner we could try Ted's Montana Grill ($$) or something cheaper like Lou Malnati's or Q Barbecue.
Wish I had an electric kettle, but I don't drink tea. Hopefully we can scrounge one up. I am planning on bringing blanket fort items as well, so definitely!
I should be there! Don't know what time, but I'm making it a goal to spend at least 2 hours there and I'm interested in the cafe idea or dinner afterwards. I live in Naperville, so as soon as we get a head count (if that's soon), I can make suggestions on places to eat. Or we can just walk around downtown Naperville until we find something feasible. It's close by.
Sara and I will be there, but not right away. Maybe 10ish. Also we will take off early because I have a housewarming party to attend in the afternoon and evening.
But I also live in Naperville and can give some of my favorites for places to eat:
Nando's Peri Peri - Chicken marinated in delicious peri peri sauce, African atmosphere, our newest favorite
Green Basil - Vietnamese, downtown Naperville, excellent Pho Ga
Heaven on Seven - Cajun/Creole, a few blocks from the municipal center
Naf Naf Grill - Mediterranean, fluffy pitas and tasty shawarma, in downtown Naperville
Lou Malnati's - Pizza, buttered crust and stuffed pizza, a few blocks from the municipal center
Joy Yee - Korean/Chinese (Beef cubes and Tomato Rice is amazing) and fresh fruit smoothies, about an 6 minute drive, off Ogden, probably very busy on Saturday night
Indian Harvest - Indian, excellent Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) and Vindaloo, about a 10 minute drive, off Ogden.
I'll probably be in round 9, and I can bring bagels or such. A dozen and cream cheese should be good, right? I'm also willing to bring a carton of coffee, just for the morning jumpstart because I don't know how big the coffee maker is.
oooo...i've also picked up chocolates....because who DOESN'T like twix and snickers and krackles when you write! also, sugar packets...because i like my tea sugared up....
I am excited for tomorrow!
I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK:We're all stories, in the end.Just make it a good one, eh?
I'm going to try to make it, but when and where and how long is the mystery. It really all depends on my husband's work load tomorrow. If I'm able to attend, I'll pop into the municipal center for a bit or catch everyone at a cafe or whatnot. I probably won't be around for dinner, though.
We will be going to Whole Foods Market after the Municipal Center. We should be there around 3:15-3:30 and will probably stay an hour and a half to two hours, depending on when people want to eat afterwards. The have a coffee cart and a good amount of seating with outlets and wi-fi.
Hi! I will be pretty late to this but I still want to go. I have to get an oil change badly and if I don't do it now I'll have to wait another week haha. And then i have to drive there from Schaumburg. I am planning on following you all to a cafe and dinner. Sorry i didnt rsvp to this sooner!!! Ack. Okay see ya'll soon.

I'll be providing an electric kettle and a coffee maker :D
And yes, everyone feel very free to bring a blanket, pillows, mugs--anything to help you settle in and write, write, write!
I'll be coming to the write-in (probably around 10:00) and staying until 3:00. Sounds like it should be a fun event!
I am going to try and make it, and hope to participate in the after-events as well. See you all there! For dinner we could try Ted's Montana Grill ($$) or something cheaper like Lou Malnati's or Q Barbecue.

Awesome! Thanks so much.
Nevermind. Looks like Kaden is all over the kettle. :)

Does this room in the municipal center have a fridge we can use?
Yes! I don't remember offhand which room we're in (I'm on my phone at work) but both possibilities have a fridge.
A dozen bagels would be fantastic! The coffee maker is a one-cup-at-a-time job, so if you feel moved to bring a carton, it would certainly be welcome.

Great, thanks!!
Meeting Room BC is where the All Day Write-In was last year, I believe; there is a fridge around the corner of room C.
