The Writing Journey (aka the Journey) is the year-round, a la carte writing group that is associated with the Naperville region of National Novel Writing Month. It is a fee-free writing group where all are welcome to participate in our many Paths. A Path is an activity or event or project that one or more Journey participants creates and coordinates. Paths can be a one-time social event like a lunch or dinner out at a restaurant or a picnic or they can be as complex as a short story anthology. Some recent popular Paths include: short story anthologies, the Editing Path, the MiniWriMo challenge (10k in 2 weeks), the Writer's Voice workshop, Shakespeare Reader's Theatre, the Japanesey/Asian Paths, the Writing Excuses Master Class and the Poetry Path.
You do not need to be in the region to be a member of the Journey, though many of our events and activities are local. The Journey's core track are a series of monthly general meetings January through June and again in September (we take off July, August, October, November and December). Each general meeting typically features two interactive workshops (each presented by one or more volunteers) and some story walls (which are small group feedback/advice sessions). Our new sponsors are the Woodridge Public Library and the Glen Ellyn Public Library, so the meetings will be held there (see writingjourney.org/events for logistics, coming soon). Meetings are typically Saturday afternoons.
I've now got a really bad record with short story collabs and attending journey meetings, but hopefully I'll be slightly better next year. I still intend to join some of the social events for sure, and I'd like to do some sort of editing path this time around, now that I have two novels I feel pretty strongly about getting finished (this year's novel had a pretty solid story, just needs a lot of polish, and the one I've been working on forever needs to finally get finished).
So long story short, yes, I'd still like to be part of the journey.
Thanks to everyone who has replied thus far. I hope to begin shortly to
add people to our main journey e-mail list (used mostly for announcements)
add people to our Journey google group (used mostly for discussions)
create accounts for people on our external and internal blogs
post our schedule of events
send out instructions
work with Sam M. on creating the three inch buttons to be given out to the volunteer Pathfinders (those who lead the Paths of the Journey, including the workshops at the general meetings)
Check out the schedule of Writing Journey events, all free and open to the public. January 23rd is our kick-off general meeting at the Woodridge Public Library.
There is also a short story anthology that will kick-off the weekend of January 16/17... more to come soon.

I'm still alive! And I still want to be in the Journey, even though my schedule sucks right now.
I would like to rejoin! Looking forward to another great year of the Journey.
I want to remain in the the Journey. I wasn't as active as I should have been in 2015, but looking to change that for 2016.
Looking forward to the story walls - those are awesome. Looking forward to both giving feedback and putting a story out there myself at some point.
Would love to do the Shakespeare Readers Theatre again. Those were a blast.
What is the meaning of life?
I rejoined. And even filled out the survey thing that Tim sent out.
I be in!
