Officially this region is for all the western suburbs, but a lot of the events are centered in Naperville. So I was wondering, where are you guys all located? I ask for carpooling/closer write-in logistics of course. Not the face that I'm new here and looking for nearby friends. Oh no.
*ahem*
So, I'm in Westchester, but I like heading over to La Grange to write once a week.
I'm in Naperville (and probably one of the reasons that our region is centered there ;-)). We do have write-ins scheduled through the Library Crawl in other cities and suburbs; and it isn't too late to organize other write-ins in locations nearer to where you are. See the Guide to Hosting Write-ins.
Which libraries are participating?
The following libraries are participating in the 2015 Library Crawl:
I'm in Clarendon Hills, so I'm quite close to La Grange--if you want company, let me know when/where and I'll see if I can make it! And I'm likely to post invites for coffee shop write ins around the area (maybe in Darien or Downer's Grove) so let me know if you want me to message you if I do.
I live way out in the boonies, in a little town called Norway. Plainfield is the closest for me. Is anybody else out this direction? It be great to get together for a mini write-in out this direction.
I'm only a mile from the heart of aurora...west side of the river...(anyone want to go to the casino and waste money?! lol!)...so i feel fortunate that many events are so near by...because even though gas has gone down in price...gas still = money lol!
I feel like hosting a few nano-write ins for aurora only so i can have opportunities to write near by...more often (getting out of the house specifically TO write really helps)....plus, i wouldn't mind meeting new people...specially those who live by...and may be just as geeky as i am.
It's just a matter of where :(. The cafe i like isn't that big...and the roundhouse coffee shop is bigger but noisier and they only have small tables. Perhaps i'll just reserve a study room for a small group...and cap it when the room fills...so many options. I am looking forward to when 2 friends of mine have free schedules coinciding with mine so we can meet at my house...bake cookies, drink tea...and write...though sadly XD one of my friends lives in canada and she can't have any cookies unless skype invents a way to send cookies via the internet...(hot and fresh of course)
Which i think is the fun part of having write-ins at home with friends...you then have the option to bake things...or make a taco bell run/pizza...or raid the cabinet for tea galore...or coffee...or cappucino...And if i make friends here that i feel comfortable with...running an oven all day to bake cookies keeps writers warm <3 lol
So...any other Aurorians?
Don't blink. Blink and your dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, Don't look away, and don't blink!

That's so ironic! (As to why, we may find out around November 7th...).
I'm up in North Aurora, actually! I haven't explored much of Aurora proper, though (I usually go into Batavia/Geneva when I do stuff), and I moved here half a year ago and still don't really know where all the places to hang out are, haha. I'm a bit of a homebody. But I'm hoping to get out and make some more friends via NaNo events this year, though! I'm also pretty geeky, and I really like Doctor Who (I recognize the quote from your signature!).
I live in Sycamore, which is located between Aurora, Elgin, and Rockford. It's in the Far West suburbs of Chicago, sometimes so far that the weathermen forget that we are out here! (Tom Skilling would never forget about us, though!)
HA! and i looked at your user name and ...RIVER SO DAMN SASSY!!! i mean...Alex kingston does a GREAT job...and fdkjdfkjds can't wait to see her in the christmas episode!
and chat with me...i grew up in batavia since 1995...i know places...like..who has REALLY good home made chocolate, AWESOME mexian food, er...any place that involves food <_<...Or, i know a really fun pumpkin farm that is open thru november and they have THE best apple cider and doughnuts...err...food again.
but i DO know places...if you need some exploring

my husband says that episode scared the living daylights out of him...and i was all "meh" gas masks are scarier...internet is scarier...AND DIVIDING WALLS BREAK MY HEART! T_T
Don't blink. Blink and your dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, Don't look away, and don't blink!
Oh!! and also...If i go to any coffee shops or panera (the panera on orchard...north of 88...has a nice back area...it's semi quiet)...or if i go to DT aurora to RIVERS EDGE CAFE (like...MY...the quintessential coffee shop...except they don't play that coffee house back ground music lol)...I'll be sure to bring my Doctor Who mug...unless my husband buys me the disappearing tardis mug!
Or go to East China inn for lunch and eat CHEAP FOOD WHILE WRITING!
Or..There is grahams 318 in DT geneva on 3rd street...it's a bit nosier but a good coffee shop vibe if you can find a table...delicious coffee...and GELATO!! mmm!! then head to Grahams 2 houses/doors down and get some of their home made chocolates...andn ice cream..and...ERGH! THERE I GO WITH FOOD, AGAIN!
We can meet up and just write...that could be fun. I am always interested to meet new people...since i am SUCH a homebody and hardly ever get out lol

In May I moved from Itasca to Elgin which puts me out more west. I love the library (within walking distance of the house woo!), but I think Elgin is a little too north for the bulk of the peeps that are in Naperville. I do believe any day I am off if I'm not down in Naperville or Glen Ellyn I will be at that amazing library with the amazing view of the Fox River
NaNo 2012 - Win! (in only 12 days)
April 2013 Camp - Win!
July 2013 Camp - Win! (18 days)

I'm changing venues - from my home to Starbucks on Rt 34 in Yorkville. I plan to be there from 10 AM until some time mid-afternoon. Anyone from LaSalle or Kendall Counties come on over and I'd love to have some company writing. I'm getting close enough that I can almost smell victory!

I'm in La Grange Park, which is smack dab between La Grange, Brookfield, Hillside, and Westchester.
I'm in Manhattan and work in Manhattan and Tinley Park. I occasionally set up stuff at the Panera in Tinley if anyone has any interest.

Awesome! I usually go to the Corner Bakery on Tuesdays, to the point where I might host a write-in there. Wifi, quite back corners, it's a good spot.

Cool. I wish I had your word count - Haha!
You probably live near where i work! I'd say, lets do a write in at the mall...but i;d get too distracted wanting to shop or buy books

Aw, sorry you couldn't make it last night--maybe next week!
I'll try to. It's a bit of a drive for me, though.
