Oh no! Super-villain extraordinaire, the NaNoWriMo Monster and his legion of Wrimo Stoppers is bound and determined to prevent us from writing our novels!
But I and your fellow MLsknow the truth - that if we band together we can all meet our word counts and crush the NaNoWriMo Monster!
But the NaNoWriMo Monster isn't the only villain out there we need to beat. This dragon boss has gathered together a group of villains, all intent on stopping writers in their tracks. But if we defeat every one of them, the rewards will be sweet!
So how do we defeat these villainousvillains? By writing of course! Each villain is trounced by working wrimos at write-ins, adding group totals together to launch a wordcount attack. As a region, we need to write 370K words at write-ins over the course of the month to slay the NaNoWriMo Monster.
But first, we need to take down this dragon's minions one by one, starting on Wednesday!
Wrimo's - get ready and plan to attend any of the write-ins on the regional calendar. www.naperwrimo.org/events
Write-in Hosts - make sure you set up a tracker page for your write-in and encourage people tosign into the google sheet at www.naperwrimo.org/wordcount
Only words written and recorded at write-ins will count as damage!
For each villain the region defeats, a new activity will be made available at the TIGO party on Dec 8th. Culminating in the actual bashing of the NaNoWriMo Monster's pinata's form. Can we beat this cast of villains?
This level 1 Plot Bunny is full of good ideas, making Wrimos excited at the start of November, but it also keeps distracting writers with new, shiny thoughts. It's very hard to focus on a first draft when you don't know which one to write!
Start planning your defenses now, and get ready to write on Wednesday! 10K for a defeat!
I really like this idea. It's a clever way to use something fun and familiar to encourage more write-in participation. I have to admit, it's got me planning out where I might go to write on days I'dintended to stay close to home. Kudos! (^_^)
You have all flabbergasted the mighty NaNoWriMo Monster. Today (November 4th) you all not only dealt a final blow to the Inner Editor, you took care of a Level 2 Plot Bunny before it took its first hop.
Now, you have to face The Professor.
Famous for distracting Wrimos by encouraging them to spend too much time on Google, Wikipedia, and going through lists of Welsh baby names for that perfect fantasy flair, he has an HP of 55K words. Can you take this guy out next?
You creamed the Professor and defeated the Level 3 Plot Bunny before it even wiggled its nose. Glad to see you so focused, but even sticking to the story can't help you against - Writer's Block.
Even the most prepared of writers can get sideswiped by this villain, so look out! He's got an HP of 60K.
You guys are doing so well. Maybe too well. You're making the Dragon nervous. He's training. Recruiting.
We have successfully taken down Writers Block! But oh no, who's this? It's the Level 4 Plot Bunny! Can we prevent rabid ideas from growing out of control? Let's find out. He's got a HP 30K.
And the bunnies are down! De-fanged! Congrats guys!
The Dragon has brought in a strong team for you to fight this time -The Weapons of Mass Distraction.Granted, of the 90K hit points these guys have you've already docked off a most of them after tonight. Keep those fingers writing!
We are on our way to winning, Wrimos! Having cut through the Weapons of Mass Distraction, we're not approaching what may be the most difficult villain of all -Mt. Burnout.
We're approaching the homestretch and we're starting to feel the pull of other tasks, the mental burnout of writing daily and aiming for 50K. And while it seemed doable two weeks ago, Mt. Burnout is growing and growing, making the goal seem further and further away. But I know we can do it! Keep writing!
Guys, we are sooooooclose! The NaNoWriMo Monster has less than 20K HP! I want to see you guys all writing frantically at the Glenside and Elmhurtlibraries tomorrow night!

My nemesis! If I see nothing else done this month, *I will see him fall*.
Got a good 5k at the Glen Elyn meetup tonight, so feeling good!

This is it, guys. We've climbed the mountain, reached the peak of Mt. Burnout.
Now, as we look down into the valley with our pen/sword we are face to face with the NaNoWriMo Monster.
He's tired, we're tired, but we've got the advantage of the high ground. A running start to build up inertia, to type as fast as we can.
Let's go dragon slaying.
