I will be hosting the write-ins at Nichols Library in downtown Naperville. These are 1:30-4:30 pm every Sunday in November. Come downstairs to the Community Room.
What to bring
Bring your laptop (or pen and notebook). Optionally bring an extension cord, snacks for yourself or to share, your own drinks (note: there are some vending machines).
I also have a few hipster PDAs left and these will be available at my write-ins as will the official NaNoWriMo stickers.
Parking
Parking at Nichols can sometimes be challenging--the lot is big but people often park there to go to the downtown area; some spaces are marked for one hour; others for three. I often park at the Alfred Ruben Center to the west of Nichols:
I've also heard some people are parking one block south at the Naperville Municipal Center.
I had tons of fun...even though mid-way through i kept getting brain farts and couldn't seen to concentrate on writing...
Kudos to all those with the word war who got 1k or higher!! i am impressed! I Plan to show up at these every sunday...even if i can't seem to get in the writing groove (like today)...at least it gets me out of the house...i decided that since I made the effort, i would treat myself to some shopping and i walked down town to Adagio and treated myself to the Doctor Who tea sampler pack. as well as other tea....but, considering i burned my tongue on the SAME brand of tea (adagio) while i was driving TO the write in...i may be hesitant to drink any tea for a while LOL!
(btw, i was the one who showed up last lol...parking was hell and i was dumb and didn't realize that there was parking on the lower level...so...Hi! I recognized a few user names from back and forth chit chats on the forums lol)
Don't blink. Blink and your dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, Don't look away, and don't blink!
Parking in the Naperville Riverwalk is a pain. I just parked at the municipal center and walked to the library. However, I failed to remember there was an entrance on the lower floor, and hiked all the way up the hill just to walk down the stairs :(

Let me know...i'll gladly accompany you to Adagio after...though, it's tempting to go to anderson books or barns n noble and browse books i shouldn't be buying LOL!
I think all the whovians should sit at their own corner of the write in...so when we meet our word count...we can throw a ball in the center and just shout "Molto Bene! ALLON-SY, ALONSO!" (as well as other inside references)
making everyone else who doesn't watch doctor who...go ????????????????

I really enjoy the nichol library write-ins. More people in attendance makes it "funner". :p and i enjoy hearing everyone's banter and stories and the throwing of the huzzah balls.
I think my Sky Bison is good luck, because the first word war was 17 minutes and i ended up getting MORE words written at the second 15 minute war when i had Sky Bison Bo (the face of) on my head. I am usually not that superstitious, but it's nano...i don't want to chance it! Next week, i should just tie my scarf around Bo, and tie him to my head like a bandana...
Unfortunately though, i had to erase half of what i wrote because at one point, i was just typing like my english professor used to tell us to do: just write non stop with out any break and what ever words come to mind...which is what i did...and when i went back to read it: most of it was legit nonsense....not even kidding when i say it was just strings of run on sentences and nothing but malarkey!
And whodathunkit...i had my doctor who River song flavor tea, the face of boe, i was wearing a scarf to channel the doctor...
oh well. next week if i hit another brain fart, i'll just pull out my sailor moon coloring book pages and just color until my brain decides to be a good brain and brain well...Next week...if it is not too cold and people don't have anywhere to be...we should find a place to grab food...and continue writing. or just for post write-in sushi...
then again...the all day write in is the 13th...the mid month meet up is the 14th...write in on the 15th...so much food

We had 17 people there at one point. People averaged nearly 3000 words per wrimo.
See the pictures from this (and also the Woodridge and Warrenville write-ins yesterday). Thanks to everyone who came--I agree that it was a fun write-in, with (in my mind) just the right mix of great productivity and some fun moments. We gave out eleven word war prizes today.

By the way, even though the write-in is officially from 1:30-4:30 pm tomorrow, I plan on arriving when the library opens at 1 pm, so feel free to come out early to get a bit more writing done.
My name is Becki and I've never been to a write-in, ever (WHAT?!) and I figured I'd be a schmuck if I missed out on the fun entirely, so I'm going to be at this write in today and I'm super jazzed about it. Looking forward to meeting you all there! :)

Welcome, Becki! We'll try to make this a fun and productive write-in for you :-).
Those Totoroslook great, Tim. But I need every minute of free time today to get caught up, so I need to sit out today, sorry. I could pop on the chat for a bit, though. Maybe even join the wordcount sheet.

What to expect
We will have Huzzah balls, word wars, the box of doom: see naperwrimo.org/writeins for more information. Add yourself to the appropriate worksheet in our google spreadsheet at naperwrimo.org/wordcount. Prizes for word wars will be these little library-themed sculpey critters:
I also have a few hipster PDAs left and these will be available at my write-ins as will the official NaNoWriMo stickers.

Be sure to bring your stuffed animal with you to the write-ins (makes for a cheerier environment :-) ).
And sign into naperwrimo.org/wordcount (google spreadsheet) so we can keep track of progress during the word wars.
