Who is bringing what food is in the next post.
Barry had an awesome idea this morning. We're going to be recording every 1,000 words that gets written at the write-in on a big chart. Can we get to 50,000 words written at the write-in today? Come help!
Does anyone have an issue with having an open jar of Nutella around (like they have severe nut allergies or something)? I have an extra jar that I don't mind donating to the write-in. I'll try to get some mini bagels to spread it on, too.
Cass and I are indeed planning to be there all day!
I may have some tea to share (jasmine green and maybe some other teabags), but otherwise I had a lot of loose-leaf stuff and only one floating duckie teaball. I'll see about possibly bringing some tidbits for folks to munch on.
Regarding Nutella, Cass IS allergic to hazelnut, but just having an open container of the stuff won't do anything to her unless it happens to fall off the table and into her mouth. :)
I'll bring vegetarian soft tacos to share for dinner (I should be arriving around noonish, but the veggie filling will need to cook in the afternoon (crock pot)).
The earliest I can get there is 7:30pm, so I probably won't show up. That's assuming I drive all the way upstate as soon as I get off work, which is almost impossible for me to do (I usually chill for 1-2hours in Bloomington first).
I found out I don't work on Friday, so I'll show up at nine and stay for quite awhile... though, I admit. I'm not writing. Instead, turning this into a knit-in and seeing how many hats I can crank out in the allotted.
Ahhhh, sweet, sweet write-ins... how I've missed you.
Hello! I am off work this Friday (Yay!) and plan on coming there early in the morningand staying through the afternoon! Maybe I'll bring some donut holes or something for breakfast?
I really REALLY want to come (as, trying to write at night in an old house with no insulation is terrible. my hands are freezing!)...i may not come at 9am..as i don't like mornings and they don't like me (but i can TRY)...but 10 or 11 mightwork...
HOWEVER...i babysit...and friday's,, it's from 3:30-6...so...i'd ether leave at 3...or leave at 3 and come back around 6 or 6:30. (which is doable, because i work pretty much next to the fox valley mall)
I can contribute tea bags (i have adagio loose leaf tea bags, as well as just loose...some star trek earl grey, 2 sailor moon blends, cream tea, strawberry tea...ect) and i have a tea infuser on a stick...and i THINK i have a tea ball...but that might be the one that broke. i ALSO have TONS of Halloween chocolate (who doesn't like chocolate!!). I can also rip off the super soft SUPER plush king size microplush blanket off our couch...and with some chairs...dude. The girls i babysit have one and let me tell ya, makes for AWESOME forts (if i remember to yank it off the couch cushions)
i can for sure bring tea and powdered cappucino. and maybe, i an find a box and craddle all my fandom coffee mugs (sailor moon, Dr. Who, apeture science) in my blanket. Since there is a fridge, i might be able to make some sour cream corn salsa dip to go with some chips? What i decide to bring as far as food would be TBD based on how ambitious i feel in the kitchen.
I look forward to seeing everyone at between 10-11 (unless i can drag myself out of bed and come earlier)and it will do me good to get out of the house and change of environment. It's harder and harder to type at night as the weather gets colder and our cruddy old house tries to do me in.
and maybe on another all day write in, i can smuggle in my cute as heck 3lb maltese that people can use as a snuggle buddy XD (no seriously, he is the biggest snuggler/cuddler ever)...haha. nah. no need to risk me getting in trouble. lol! (or...is it *arched eyebrow...no one is allergic to hypoallergenic dogs, are they lol)
nah. heck, i'm too nervous to even sneak him into the movie theater.
Squiddish wrote:What's this? I'M COMING!I'm not writing. Instead, turning this into a knit-in
#1 -- thrilled you're coming!!!!
#2 -- maybe think about writing a short story? I'm only concerned because I won't be giving out prizes for knitting, and I do still have an iron-on squid patch. (one of the monsters and the keyboard are gone, though.)
P J J Walton wrote:Hello! I am off work this Friday (Yay!) and plan on coming there early in the morningand staying through the afternoon! Maybe I'll bring some donut holes or something for breakfast?
Great! How about a few bagels instead? (I'm bringing cranberry muffins with chocolate chips.) But anything is fine.
Remember, it doesn't start until 9. (Not sure what people think of as early.)
HOWEVER...i babysit...and friday's,, it's from 3:30-6...so...i'd ether leave at 3...or leave at 3 and come back around 6 or 6:30. (which is doable, because i work pretty much next to the fox valley mall)
We'll be happy to see you whenever you show up, and hopefully it will be so awesome and fun that you'll come back after your job.
Chocolate and tea and other food/drink stuff sounds great.
Oooh.
Maybe I'll take a break from knitting at one point to write a story. (:
I have things I'm working on writing wise just not counting it towards nano because it won't be substantial.
if i DO decide to sneak in my dog via my purse (since he's that small lol!), he is a hypoallergenic maltese...any issues??? he is THE cutest most mild mannered lazy dog ever and hardly if everbark or cause a ruckus. he mostly spends 18 hours sleeping and the rest of them he spends cuddled next to a warm body. I think he'd make great comforting cuddle buddy during writing.
or would it be best to just leave him at home so i don't run the risk of getting in trouble?
Oh thank goodness. I haven't been able to make it to ANY write-ins, which has something to do with my very sadly low word count... But Ishouldbe able to make it for at least some of the time tomorrow. I'm just not sure when, exactly. I have a... meeting, let's call it, up in Grayslake at 10:00, and I have no idea how long that will run. But afterwards, I should be free to head on down with my trusty pens and notebook, and probably a good chunk of nervous energy. I am in desperate need of word wars!
We're going to have folks that don't like/are afraid of dogs, and I doubt they're allowed in the municipal center. Bringing one in would paint our group in a bad light should you get caught.
i figured as much. i', never brave enough to bring him anywhere other than the pet store and the vet office! lol!! i'm too paranoid i'd get caught and get in trouble. XD
I plan to be there Friday. Since I'm not much of a morning person, I don't think I'll be there till 10:30 or even 11, but will stay as long as it's productive. It's fun to think of a whole day set aside just for writing. My story keeps on twisting in ways I didn't expect and it's no longer about what I thought it was.
ok, i made Bacon Bake MacMeaty at work today (it's a baked mac cheese casserole) and i made WAAAAY to much that it fit in a small pan for OUR dinner and the REST was able to fit in a LARGE 12 x 8ish casserole dish...
i can bring some for dinner tomorrow after i sit? like..6 or 6:30? who here likes mac and cheese with bacon!!! :D i'll gladly bring it along with utensils if we need it
or would it be best to just leave him at home so i don't run the risk of getting in trouble?
yes, please leave him at home.
We really don't want to get into trouble with the city since we use this space a lot. And many people (myself included) don't want to be around a dog. Sorry but while I can admire a cute one on the Internet, I have no desire to have one around.
I went a little crazy at the grocery store. I'm bringing mini bagels (whole wheat and cinnamin rasin), Nutella (previously mentioned), rasberry jam, and cream cheese.
I also bought a 48 pack of knives so if anyone need a knife, you should be covered.
Sapphire wrote:I think I'm gonna grab a big ol' thing of fresh Mariano's orange juice and maybe some sort of snacky thing on my way home from worktonight.
hmm. if i get there at 9 or 10...i may NOT come back after. looks like i may end up working a little later than i thought... :) but 6 hours before work should be plenty!!

Winner!
Whee! Sounds like a blast. Too bad about the dog, He sounds cute, but I think just the weather would be enough of an incentive to leave him home. I'd love to see some pictures though.
On another note, I'll bring paper towels and paper plates since it looks like everyone would preffer coffee or tea. I can't wait to meet my fellow Wrimos. (it gets depressing trying to explain it to everyone.)
Year three let's go!

Hmm, food... suppose I shouldn't come empty handed, especially with the effort some of you are putting in! Some leftover tiny bags of cheetos from halloween may be joining me.
People are still welcomed to drop by. If you can let us know here, that makes it even better. Just seeing the excitement in this thread is making me more excited about writing than I've been all month.

NOW i just pray i don't get sick, since the 5 year old was coughing left and right. don't worry! i washed my hands regularly!

i am having tons of fun writing...i am goin to go NUTS when i have to leave at 3:10 to go babysit...but hey! i schmoozed my husband into letting me come back rather than me coming home to cook dinner for him! This is SO much fun and WAY more exciting than the 4 people we had at the aurora DT library!
Boo. I wish I had not decided to leave my laptop. I am sitting here bored OUT of my mind while the eldest child watches MLP and I'm waiting for the youngest two to get off the school bus in ten minutes. I could be writing. Lol!
I really had fun today!!! i may not be physically exhausted but i am surely mentally exhausted. i am ready to cuddle with my pup, my husband, a blanket, and some tv (or sleep)

It was fun to meet everyone and i can't wait to find other write ins to attend! or for me to find days to go somewhere and invite people!
Thanks for all your hard work (and Barry's) to put this event together. It was a lot of fun; greatly enjoyed all the great food (the green beans were delicious!) and great companionship. I think that there may have been some futureWriting Journey members present today!

Food for the all day write-in:
There is a microwave, refrigerator, outlets. For those who want to bring food to share, I'll keep this updated:
Does anyone have an issue with having an open jar of Nutella around (like they have severe nut allergies or something)? I have an extra jar that I don't mind donating to the write-in. I'll try to get some mini bagels to spread it on, too.

Ok. No Nutella in the mid-afternoon food fight. Got it. Thanks!
I'll bring vegetarian soft tacos to share for dinner (I should be arriving around noonish, but the veggie filling will need to cook in the afternoon (crock pot)).
I can bring tea filters and a near infinity of bagged tea.
The earliest I can get there is 7:30pm, so I probably won't show up. That's assuming I drive all the way upstate as soon as I get off work, which is almost impossible for me to do (I usually chill for 1-2hours in Bloomington first).
I'm also bringing cranberry muffins, and lasagna.
(And thinking about brownies.)

I have a question. Where is parking for this building?

Chocolate and tea and other food/drink stuff sounds great.
I'll jump in! Though this being said, I'll be jumping in around 5-7 pm? Though don't count it as a positive. I will try my best to make it though!
I will show up late morning to early afternoon or longer, if I can. I,m behind, so Ineed a day of power writing to catch up.
We have company, but I hope to come as early as possible for up to 3 hours. I
should have some pumpkin and/or gluten-free blueberry muffinsI can bring, if we don't already have too many baked goods. Maybe some grapes.
I will be there probably 12-3 and as always will have candy to share.
I'll be there first thing in the morning :)

It was fun today. And we wrote 83,000 words (plus misc) in that room. Woot!
I do like the idea of putting what we wrote all together, I fear, though, that it would make about as much sense as the above song. :)
Katherine,
Thanks for all your hard work (and Barry's) to put this event together. It was a lot of fun; greatly enjoyed all the great food (the green beans were delicious!) and great companionship. I think that there may have been some futureWriting Journey members present today!
