I will be hosting three write-ins this year, two at IPPL (where I work) and one at Downers Grove Public Library. We will have word wars, special challenges, and I have a fun activity planned for when you get stuck (sneak preview on our twitter). These are part of the Library Crawl.
Late is fine! All of my write-ins are drop-in, so people can come whenever they can for as long as they can.
Honestly, getting there is going to be tight for me too, because I got called in for jury duty! But I have been promised I'll be out early enough to make it back on the trains in time.
IPPL is my childhood library (I remember when it was still in that strip mall on 75th), so I'm super bummed that I have a regular Monday night commitment that will likely keep me away from those write-ins. But, as my new adopted home library, I'm excited to spend some time at DGPL.
Yay! I will let you know. I'm going to speak to our security monitor this weekend and double check on the power strip situation. Also, if you want to get a quick dinner before any of these write-ins, let me know. :D
We are here at the library and ready! We are also in the chat, if anyone wants to join remotely. Sadly, remote visitors are not eligible for my super cool prizes or candy. Just gloating rights.
We're all set up in Conference Room A upstairs at the Downer's Grove Public Library. The Downer's Grove Writer's Workshop group is here to lend us their wisdom, or in their words, "tell you what not to do."
I'm gonna try to make it to the one on the 17th at IPPL. I was in there today :D and saw the Nanowrimo display as I walked in. Felt like jumping up and down shouting, "I'm doing that! I'm doing that!"
I'm a Rebel this year though. Only have some short fiction in mine. Is it ok if we're not writing fiction for the write-in? (I can adjust either way though).
You can write whatever you like. I'm actually doing creative nonfiction this year, so you won't be alone if you're not working on a novel.
I'm so glad you liked my display! I'm so thankful to our marketing department for making those great posters and letting me take over their display at the entrance.
Alright, folks! We're back at IPPL tomorrow evening 6:30-8:30(ish) for another write-in. No registration required, and drop-ins are welcome, don't feel like you can't come if 6:30 is a little too early for you.
We have plot bunnies, prizes, and still more candy than I know what to do with, plus you'll earn another entry into the library crawl prize drawing! Start week 3 off strong and get over that mid-month hump with some friendly competition and commeraderie.
We'll also be in the chat if anyone wants to join us virtually!

I will be there with bells on (figuratively speaking; I have no actual bells ;-) )!
Anyone else going that way who might want to meet for a quick dinner beforehand? I see that there is a Culver's nearby...
I'd be happy to meet you at Culver's, Tim!What time works for you? I want to be back to the library by 6:15 at the latest, to make sure everything is set up, but I'm free anytime before that.
IAmChristinaG says she'll try to join us, as well.

Would 5:15 pm be too late? I might be able to be there earlier than that, but I'm not familiar with the level of traffic on Route 53 and 75th Street.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU to TypesetJez. My husband & I were at the IPPL last night and it was great! I got a lot written for the short time we were there. It was really nice and felt very comfortable -- thank you! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Looking forward to next year's already :)
And THANKS to NewMexicoKid too. Was nice to see you in person after seeing you on the forum for so long :)
Thankyou for coming. It looks like everyone got quite a bit of writing done last night and, to me, that's a successful program! I hope the library will be able to host more write-ins next year. Until then, I hope we see you at other area write-ins.

Thanks! It was nice meeting you too. Thanks for bringing and sharing those exquisite tartlet cookies! They were absolutely delicious!

I should be able to make it to all of these--see you there! (And let me know if you'd like me to bring a spare power strip or anything).

I had a cancellation, I'm in for tomorrow's write-in!!

Logging onto IRC now for remote participants!

You can write whatever you want at a write-in. The idea is to have some company while writing. (And lots of people are rebels this year.)

I'm so glad you liked my display! I'm so thankful to our marketing department for making those great posters and letting me take over their display at the entrance.
Ok good! Thanks Katherine! I'm gonna trying to make it.
It was a great display. Saw it right when I stepped in the library and was all excited :) Great job TypesetJez!

5:15 is good.
And you're probably going to hit some traffic due to construction on 75th, especially around Plainfield.

Still gonna try to make it, but there is some personal stuff going on so might not be able to attend.
I understand real life getting in the way sometimes. All the same, I hope things work out so you can come (and have less personal stuff to deal with).
