After what I have now dubbed the Great Slam Poetry Debacle of 2012, I have made the executive decision to move the Sunday night write-ins from the Caribou on Front Street in Wheaton to the Caribou on 38 in Glen Ellyn. I'm hoping it will be less busy/more roomy/less snappy than the Front Street 'Bou.

I'm not sure if that 'Bou closes at 9 or 10, but we'll be closing the place down one way or the other. I will be an hour or so late this week, and Brian may be a bit late, but the start time is still 5pm. Come on out and join us! :D It'll be fun!

Oh! I realized I know exactly where this Caribou is. I think the seating is a little better, no clue how the outlet situation is. It's very rustic inside and looks like a log cabin on the outside. Most of the parking is in BACK (though there's a few spots up front)!

Joe and I will be there! We will likely be a little late since we're coming straight from the 95th Street Library in Naperville and will be stopping for a bite to eat on the way over.

Hey everyone. Just got to this Caribou (the one in Glen Ellyn) and the power is out all along Roosevelt and this location is closed. We're gonna head to the one in Wheaton and pray for no slam poetry.

Clarification. The Caribou in Danada Square.

We just drove by the Caribou and saw the power out. We are eating dinner at Meatheads and then we will meet you guys in Canada Square! :)

Well, the 'Bou in Danada Square was only open until 8:30, so we packed up at about 8 and moved to the 'Bou in Glen Ellyn that is open until 10 and actually had power back. :) We lost Beck and Joe along the way, but the rest of us settled in front of the fire and got some more words written. :) This 'Bou is gorgeous and huge! Definitely our Sunday night location from now on.

How was the parking situation at that one in Glen Ellyn?

I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions. ~James Michener

It was fine. :) There's parking behind the building.

Just a note, I will be about an hour late. Please feel free to snag a table or two. My family is having a later dinner tonight.

So, I had to share... You know how I left the write-in estimating that I'd written about 6,133 words for the day? Yeah... I was wrong.

Between the write-in at Nichols Library and the write-in at Caribou, I wrote a total of 6,943 words. In a day. By hand.

I... am awesome. And I have a very sore hand, arm, and shoulder. And it's totally worth it.

Just had to share that.

Your are awesome, Lisa. I am amazed (of course, I was amazed when you wrote more by hand than I was typing in word wars ;-) ).

I'm impressed you managed that, even with the Napples Incident!

Busy night at the Bou tonight! I grabbed the only open table. Here's to hoping things clear out enough for us to get a table near an outlet soon!
