Instructions
Thanks to everyone for writing! Note: If you have any special requests for critters, be sure to post them soon! It will take me a while to make the 24 but I hope to have them done sometime later this month. I will see if folks are available for a lunch out to distribute them; otherwise, we can try the first Journey meeting or make other plans.
Original Post
People in our region love plot critters (like this plot carrot my daughter made today):
and this sparkly plot kitty I put together:
And I dearly want people in our region to write this final week of NaNoWriMo, particularly in an effort to draw even with Maryland. So here is my challenge to Naperville-homed folks in our Introduce Yourself thread that feeds our faces graph:
So help out the region! Post your pledge to take up this challenge!
Note that delivery might not be until January (at our Journey first meeting) or at least sometime in December since there are preparations I need to do for the TGIO.

Motivation!
Plot Critter! :D
Is it possible for you to mail the critter to us, as I'm not entirely sure I am allowed to make any of the NNWM meetings.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I'm glad you're motivated!
I'd prefer not to have to mail critters as the expenses add up and all of this comes out of my own pocket; all of our meetings are open to the public and in public venues--everyone is welcome to attend. If it is a matter of parental permission, you could note to them that our region has great partnerships with area libraries, especially a long standing one with the Naperville Public Library that goes back to 2006. Also, in addition to my polished credentials as a volunteer Municipal Liaison ;-), I'm also a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Alcatel-Lucent and a happily married parent of a student at Naperville North High School :-)
I really hope you'll be able to come to our TGIO (note: depending on the number of folks taking this challenge and the number of critters I give out tomorrow and Sunday, I might not have all of them ready by December 3rd, but there is a chance). If not, we will have Journey events in 2012.
If, after all of that, we aren't able to get the critter to you (and you make the 18,000 word total), nanomail me and we'll see what we can do.
Good luck! And let me know if you have other questions.
Cheers,
--Tim
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Now that I think about it....it probably wasn't a good idea for me to try to cram an extra 18K in.... *sigh*
Re: INSTRUCTIONS for the Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I would like one with an Alien Flag of Surrender that is Too Close to another creature for Comfort.
No rush.
Re: Updated 1/10: Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Just a quick bump in case any folks are reading this and wanting to collect their challenge plot critters this Saturday. I will have them with me in room A.

So goal of 57,086. This will be hard, but darn, I really love plot critters...
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Good luck! I know you can do it!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
38,001. See you on the other side of November with 56,001 at least. :) I'm shooting for 60,000 but we'll see if my life cooperates.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I'm in.
135,249 -- so I'll aim for 153,253 since I like symmetry in numbers.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I am pretty sure I will not be succeeding at this, as I have only 3.5 days left, but what the heck...

Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I'm in!

Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I will have 70,000 by 11:59 Nov 30, that's a little more than 18K from here for me. I luvs the sparkly kitteh! That plot carrot is dang cute, too!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
48020 now, so at least 66020. I'm on it!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I just updated to 81779 so, let's make that an even 100k for me. I do love a challenge, especially if it involves writing lots of words.
The sparkly plot kitty is adorable! :)
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Mine's 36,733. I actually don't plan to write more than 50k but might have to in order to keep up with Squiddish and Piratess, so I might as well sign up.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
GET ON IT, BRIAN. PASSED YOU UP TODAY~!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
39515 right now, so 57515... a toughie, but I'll give it a shot. That's just three 5k days, after all... we'll see. :)
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I'm at 11093. It's a tough goal, but tough is what I do!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
I'm in! Currently at 35798, aiming for 54k.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Tim... was that last comment aimed at me? ;D
'If you have 172,000 and you end up with 214,000, I'll make you two or three special plot critters!'
Well, if it wasn't, whatever, it still worked. count me in.
The total that I have right now, as of this exact moment, is 175,107 :)
I'm going to win those two/three plot critters >:D No matter what it takes!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
You're a real joy to have in our region, Sarah! (yes, of course it was aimed at you :-) :-) )
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Aw, Thanks, Tim! :D
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
35,785 is what I'm at currently, and I've been needing some motivation to play catch-up. Which means 53,785 or more. (I'm pretty sure the only reason I've ever finished NaNo is because I went to Write Ins where I was motivated by buttons, so... shiny things = things I need? Let's find out!)
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Okay, I am up for a shot at this. It will be my only shot at a plot critter since I have not been able to schedule any write-ins this year. I started this evening at 43920 so I would need to get to 61920.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
Whoo! Guys! So far we have knocked Maryland's lead down over 1,000 words! And that's just in one day! If we keep this up, we'll leave them in our DUST! Keep writing! GOGOGOGOGOGO!
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
38147 now.... so 56147
:)
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
PS: These are just absolutely adorable.
Re: A Challenge and a Plot Critter Bounty for 18K words
