I prepared a step-by-step guide to using critiquecircle at:
http://katherinelato.com/cc/how.htm
- This has lots of images so it may take a few minutes to load.

Then try it yourself-- Go to www.critiquecircle.com

Let me know what your handle it there, and I'll look for you. Please let me know if you have any problems.

I set up an account tonight & will give this a try sometime this weekend most likely. My name there will be the same as everywhere else: typesetjez.

Katherine,
I'm Qberty there same as here. Feeling a little lost in the whole process but I will try to slog my way through.

I just updated my first chapter and would love more comments (though you'll only get half credit since it's no longer in the public queue for this week), but take a look at it if you like:
http://www.critiquecircle.com/queue.asp?action=lookup&index=72115

Or Barry (he's glickli there) has one in the Newbie Queue for 1 credit. (It will no longer be seen once it gets 6 critiques, though)
http://www.critiquecircle.com/queue.asp?action=lookup&index=72630

Just log in to the side, click on one of those stories (or anything else in the queue), click on 'inline' for critique type, and start giving your opinion. It's that easy. (Barry said someone noticed that he used 4 different tenses in one sentence, and it almost worked. Good thing to fix.) I had 10 critiques on my first chapter and revised it thoroughly trying to keep the parts that people liked and cut the stuff that was too slow. (I kept the potato chips in a sandwich though.)

Anyway, the easiest way to get started is to do one of them tonight (or today, whenever you're reading this.) Get 3 credits, then submit something of yours. Pretty soon, you'll be getting and giving critiques and learning a lot (at least I do.)
